As a follow-up post of our alternative to Buzzsumo, I decided that Content Studio has many features I would like to go over and offer a tutorial on how to use this software. This tool is used for finding potential viral content on the Internet. Use the content publishing features to post and schedule your posts on social media channels as well as on your blogs. This is a web-based software where you create an account and then use their platform. You do not have to download or install anything, all you need is an internet connection and create your account through your web browser.
Content Studio offers 9 sources of content to find potential topics that are located on websites; YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Daily Motion, Imgur, Giphy, and Pixabay. Outside its content discovery feature, you can integrate your social media accounts and website and then post the viral content you have found on your channels.
Content Studio Features:
Monitor and Publishing Content
One reason Content Studio is a decent alternative tool to Buzzsumo is its content discovery feature. You can find potential viral articles on the Internet at a glance. After logging into your account, all you have to do is navigate to the “Discovery” tab.
From the Discovery tab, you will see the current trending topics from 9 sources that include blog posts, videos, photos, images, gifs, and the list goes on. You can use these as a part of your content planning strategy.
Then, enter the keyword or URL where you would like to look for current trend content within your niche. Once you enter your keyword, you will see the default results and then adjust the filter to fit the time frame you want: All Time, 24-Hours, 48-Hours, 7 Days, 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, Custom Range.
You can arrange the results by: Recent, Trending, Most Shared, Facebook Shares, Pinterest Shares, LinkedIn Shares.
You can also filter by Region in order to select targeted countries such as the U.S., UK, Germany, India, etc or view as worldwide but this feature will not cover all countries. You may also filter by languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Turkish, etc. Unfortunately, what I have witnessed so far, English works better than other languages that will display fewer results and fewer resources.
Each result will give you the ability to see many stats so you can decide which ones you want to share on your social media channels or post on your blog. You can preview a certain article before sharing it. You can also see who has recently shared an article in the last 7 days and discover the potential influencers in your niche.
Another great feature, you can use the “Add to Favorites” then come back and use it later on or share it immediately through your social media channels or your blog. In order to do this step, you will have to integrate your social account and blog before hand
Connecting your social accounts and blog to Content Studio you will be able to share posts much more easily, schedule posts through this feature and use it as your content automation tool. As of date, the software supports the following social accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr. Blog integration supports: WordPress, Tumblr, Medium.
I didn't used the blog integration feature, so I'm not sure how well it works but I have used the social integration for content automation. You can monitor specific keywords and set the schedule to post targeted content through Twitter and Tumblr and it seems to work just fine. ContentStudio.io has different plans for each feature, follow this link for further information [link]
Go to the Discovery tab and you will be able to monitor specific topics of your liking. By default, the software provides quick topics under these categories: Auto & Vehicles, Comedy, Education, Entertainment, How To & Style, News & Politics, Sciences & Technology, Sports, Travel. These topics will give you results from authority resources that the software has added.
You can also create your own topics using the “My Topics” feature by simply clicking on the “New Topic” button. From there, you can use targeted keywords and URLs you want to monitor. You can also exclude certain keywords and URLs to be more specific in your results. Once done, just click “Save” and you have just created your own topic.
Outside of the Discovery feature, the software has the content publishing feature that allows you to create posts to your social media account or blog post directly inside the software's panel. In order to accomplish this, you have to go to the Discovery tab, select which post you want to share, then click on “Share This Post” button.
Afterward, select “Social Media” and choose the social account you want to post the content to. From the dashboard, you can preview what content you want to share or modify the content first. You will see suggested related hashtags and you can schedule your post or post it right away if you are satisfied with the content as is.
There is also a “Composer” feature that you can use to create longer posts through your blog and social accounts. This feature would be very useful as your content management center to post and schedule posts. We did not used this feature but possibly will if needed in the future.
The content automation feature will save you a great deal of time. You must go to the “Automation” tab where you will find options for using content automation for your blog posts and/or your social media posts. We will use social media posts for our example.
First, click on the “Create a new campaign” button, enter your campaign name and select the social media account you want to use.
Next, enter the keywords and/or URL that you would like to monitor. If you want more specific results, you can exclude keywords and/or URLs. Select a rough number of social engagements, assuming that more engagements will bring in more readers. You can select the post's age that range from: Any, Most Recent Only, Last 24-Hours, After A Specific Date.
Finally, you will schedule your post. You will have the option to review your post before publishing it or let it run the way you have it set up.
You need an easy way to oversee your content planning when you have set different schedules on your social media accounts and blogs. Content Studio offers their “Planner Calendar” to monitor your published content or soon to be published content. The dashboard is very easy to use and quite handy because you can quickly look at your content or modify content before you publish it or publish it right away from the dashboard.
Content Studio is a very good tool for content marketers, bloggers, website owners, and other professionals and companies that are looking for a software that will help them find viral content over the Internet easily. This tool will help you find potential viral content quickly and use them in an effective way for your content strategy.
It will help you find content that is very engaging, help you publish and schedule your posts, and help you with content automation so you can provide content to your targeted audience on autopilot. This software works really great with English content but with other languages, there's room for improvement.
