Keysearch will then pull any data from GKP (Google Keyword Planner) and deliver your results. In the first attempt we received 454 related keywords.
The Keysearch software automatically calculated the seed-keyword and comes up with the number 37 as a competition score which happens to be an easy-to-moderate level. Visual graphics to the left-hand side shows the Google search trend. The trend scores range from 0 to 100 which helps you to see the steadiness of the keyword it is searching for. From the results we can see the seed keyword we used is steady.
Each of the software options use differing factors in the equations used to calculate the KD (keyword difficulty) score. Yet all should always be based on off-page and on-page factors.
There are a host of keyword-ranking difficulty tools currently available. I have personally found that 3 tools which are able to deliver accurate results include Keysearch, Kwfinder and Long Tail Pro Platinum.
Yet because each use slightly different approaches, it is very common that these 3 top-rated KD tools will deliver very different results. For example, Long Tail Pro Platinum might say the keyword is easy-to-rank while Keysearch might say it is difficult to rank.
You will need to check on off-page and on-page factors manually and then go with your gut to make a decision whether you should be going after it. The best keyword difficulty tool does not exist. The keyword difficulty analysis software is described as useful programs but not a magical answer.
The initial tool I utilized is to allow Keysearch to extract data from GKP. This is a tool that was built for Google’s PPC campaigns. It is the collection of the keywords that Google wants to show to its advertisers. It is limited and not such a great benefit for SEO purposes.
Luckily, Keysearch offers a lot more reliable databases when it comes to related keywords. To date they have this database for suggesting keywords:
When using just one seed keyword, you are able to extract data from all these sources. You are then offered with 1,000s of related-keywords. From here you collect all of the possible keywords, making sure to remove the duplicate phrase clicking on the “Check” button on each to check on the keyword difficulty.
To speed up this process, Keysearch features the “Bulk Check” option for batching a keyword-difficulty checker process. Keep in mind that you will have a quota daily for calculating KD, so try not wasting it on keywords that are unnecessary otherwise you will be forced to wait for 24 hours for the quota to reset.
After experimenting with each of the keywords and databases, I found the keyword phrase that I was interested in. It said, “aerial yoga beginners”.
I then clicked on the “check” button to calculate the KD score. The result was 39 which is an easy-moderate level score. Yet, my gut was telling me this keyword was not that easy as was suggested. I decided to dig a bit deeper.
When looking at the SERP analysis table to the left, you will notice the top ten results on the 1st page. I found a couple of pages with a low authority with very little content featured on their sites. This meant that even though this keyword is not significantly easy. It is possible to be aiming at this keyword.
We have now completed the 1st method.
The following step is to find out about your competitors and the keyword sets they use to rank their sites. The ultimate software you can use to spy on competitors is Ahrefs and SEMrush. These are the tools that have massive keyword databases, yet their price tiers are not very pocket-friendly.
Other KD tools do not offer these spying features as it is generally expensive. I personally have been using Long Tail Pro Platinum for a long time, and they do not offer this feature. To find keywords from your competitors sites, you are just googling targeted keywords. In the following example, I used the phrase “aerial yoga beginners”.
When you conduct your search through Google, make sure you have signed out of your own Google account and clear all the cookies. This will ensure the results are more general, that are not tailored to your preferences.
If you are targeting keywords for the US market yet you are located somewhere else, change your IP address to remove the local results. To change your IP, use the reliable VPN or proxy services.
From here collect the initial 20 results and save these URLs into a spreadsheet.
Now return to your Keysearch dashboard and use the “Explorer” tab. Use the URLs that you have collected and saved followed by clicking on the “Search” button.
Keysearch then checks and analyzing your competitors in seconds. You now have the choice to examine the entire website of just a specific page.
On the left you will notice the “Organic Keywords” report. Click on “View Keywords” followed by exporting the keywords into another spreadsheet. Repeat this process for the rest of your competitors URLs. With the use of a basic method along with a competitor spying tool that is powerful, by now you should have 1,000s of targeted keywords.
The next step involves placing all these keywords together. Remove the duplicated ones and manually remove any unrelated ones. Once you have a final draft put these keywords into Keysearch and again let the tool calculate the KD score to see the strength of each keyword.
To do this go to the “Keyword Research” tab. Click on the “Import Keyword List”, then paste all the collected keywords and allow the software to work its magic.
Spying on competitors is an effective strategy. Yet the drawbacks linked to this technique has to do with the generation of many unrelated keywords. This is presuming that every website is in someway aiming at different keyword-sets at certain levels.
In the “Explorer” tab look to the top-left of the dashboard and you will see “Score to Target” and “Domain Strength” reports.
This feature is extremely useful because you are given information on the KD score of the targeted keyword that you choose, allowing you to evaluate the strength of your competitors. In addition, you can also place your domain here to compare vital off-page factors between yourself and your competitors.
According to Internetlivestats, there are around 3.5 billion searches conducted daily through Google alone. And it is important to know that Google dominates the search engine-spaces with more than 85% market-share across the globe.
This means new keywords and queries are popping up constantly every day. If you are able to spot-on trending topics that many people talk about in a specific moment and then create quality videos or articles about these topics, you are able to tap into the untouched niche markets. And because the subjects are new and increasing, for a specified time-frame, the chances are high that very few people are writing about these topics. This increases your chances of appearing on the front page, almost instantly.

Each person has their own words and expressions to describe the same things. For example, if you see an attractive woman you might refer to her as beautiful, while your friend might say she is pretty or stunning or use some other words to describe her.
The LSI keyword generator tool is very useful here since it reflects the way that people describe things in a more natural way and is not too limited by using the same keyword phrases repeatedly.
The 'Content Assistant' looks at the top results for your targeted keyword. Then the software analyzes the content and provides you with a report that shows you which keywords and keyword phrases are used in these articles. These LSI keywords are ones you should consider adding into your article also.

An API is required for the add-on difficulty checker to work. It basically follows the same fundamentals that the main difficulty checker feature does. However, I have seen quite often that the add-on feature delivers slightly different KD scores and SERP results. So it is good to have the add-on to double check how competitive our targeted keywords are.
Whenever you perform comprehensive keyword research, hundreds or thousands of keywords will need to be managed and categorized. The 'My List' feature allows you to do that. The functionality and user interface are very self explanatory and easy to use. You need to put the same categories of keywords into the same list. It is that simple.
The feature will allow you to export your keyword report into either pdf or csv format. Your lists can also be merged. Your desired keywords can also be sent to the Keysearch keyword tracking feature.

We used this feature before during the previous step to determine what keywords the competition was using. However, now we will be using it to check the off-page SEO factors.
On the dashboard you will see the backlinks report of your competitors.
Once you have all of these off-page factors, you can start to evaluate how strong your competitors are. You will know how many backlinks they have obtained so far. And how much you need to have these same factors so that you can add them to your own strategy to outperform them.
By investigating your competitors' backlinks, you will also be able to find guest post outreach opportunities as well. You may find established websites in your niche that will be happy to link back to your website if you use effective outreach strategies.
'Competitive Analysis' is the next features. It has 5 modules:
I started with the first module which is the 'Backlink Checker.' Within seconds, you will receive the backlinks report. It is basically the same information that we saw in the 'Explorer,' but with more details on each backlink. From the dashboard, you can export the report in csv, excel or pdf format.
As I said before, the two most powerful software programs that can yield great data sets of backlinks and keywords are Ahref and SEMrush. So the backlink analysis report that is provided by Keysearch is just a small piece of the big picture.
However, having meaningful data is still a lot better than not knowing anything at all. The 'Competitive Analysis' feature is all about off-page factors. What we want to do in the first place is look for low competition keywords that we can get ranked through tweaking and optimizing the on-page factors. So on-page and low competition keywords are the first things that we focus on, while off-page metrics that we receive from the software are minor elements for now in our situation.
The next module is the 'Competitor Gap' feature. It allows you to compare the targeted site versus your own website (or another website). Ideally, using the Keysearch 'Youtube Research' feature will help you easily find some potentially low competition keywords. However, based on my personal experience so far things don't always work that way.
Based on my understanding, the software uses Youtube's API to generate the results and to give you a set of suggested keywords. So these are the extremely popular keywords, and it is very difficult if you want to target those phases. See the picture below, to get an idea of how hard the Youtube keyword research process really is.
The other way to make this work is to collect the same amount of keywords from other databases. Those databases are included in the software already and we have used them before with our seed keyword research technique. You can then plug your list of collected keywords into the software. Doing it this way should give you more potential keyword choices.
If you compare the KD scores of the same keywords, quite often the Youtube SEO is much harder compared to the article SEO. Please look at the picture below to get an idea of what I mean.
When conducting keyword research to use for your website, the ideal method is to target low competition keywords. This does work very well. However, the issue with low competition keywords is that they usually have very low search volume on a monthly basis as well. Therefore, if you were to apply the same keyword research methodology to Youtube SEO it may not be worth the time and money.
The cost of creating high quality videos is a lot more expensive compared to publishing a simple blog post. Video production includes filming, editing, hiring a professional announcer, etc. It is fairly expensive.
So obviously it isn't worth your time and money to just focus on low competitive and low search volume keywords. Even if you are able to do all of the video production process yourself, it is still a very time consuming operation.
My preferred approach to doing Youtube SEO is, I target high volume keywords instead. Although it is harder to get them to rank, there are practical strategies that can be used to achieve the goal. The method of getting your videos ranking high on Youtube is beyond the scope of this article, so I will have to skip it here.
